Tantric massage is specifically designed to help practitioners of Tantra, especially sexual Tantra, to reach new levels of practice.

There are many forms of Tantric massage, developed by different practitioners around the world. Tantric massage includes various massage technique, with elements from yoga, bioenergetics, and sexual therapy.[1] According to the Tantric Massage Association, it was developed in the 1980s by Andro Andreas Rothe, founder of Diamond Lotus Tantra Lounge, the first Tantra institute in Germany (1977).

Some practitioners base their techniques on ideas taken from the work of Wilhelm Reich, Carl Jung, Carl Rogers and Alexander Lowen. Other sources of inspiration include the work of Mantak Chia, Joseph Kramer (who developed the "lingam massage"), and Annie Sprinkle (who developed the "yoni massage").

Yoni Massage

A typical yoni massage is a full-body massage, which includes the genital area, and can cover both external and internal massage points. A yoni massage may be therapeutic, focused on locating and releasing tension stored deep within the abdomen, or sensual, focused on helping the receiver to connect with and understand her sexual response.

Not long ago, the idea of a woman paying someone to massage her yoni would have been equated with a man paying for a massage with a "happy ending" - a form of sex work. In recent years, however, science has undertaken serious research into the complexities of female sexual response, the size and reach of the internal structures of the clitoris have been recognised, and the important role of the pubic nerve has been acknowledged. In light of these discoveries, the idea of therapeutic massage in the genital area has become much more accepted.

A therapeutic yoni massage is focused on locating and releasing areas of tension and blockage. These may manifest as physical tension or pain, or as areas of numbness or tenderness, or as places which trigger an emotional reaction. A good practitioner will adjust the intensity of the experience, taking the release process gradually, over multiple sessions if required, to ensure the yoni massage itself does not create a trauma by creating experiences that are too intense for the receiver to process.

A sensual yoni massage aims to explore a woman's sexual pleasure response. It may involve full-body massage, to encourage relaxation. It will include extended attention to peripheral erogenous zones, such as the neck, breasts, and inner thighs, before any intimate touch. The practitioner will explore the pleasure zones of the outer (vulva) and inner (vagina) worlds of the yoni, guiding the receiver to identify her unique "pleasure map".

Many women have become able to orgasm for the first time in their lives after experiencing yoni massage. Ultimately, the aim of a sensual yoni massage is to assist the receiver to access Tantric orgasm, multiple orgasms, and higher states of consciousness.

Lingam Massage

A typical lingam massage is a full-body massage, which includes the genital area. A lingam massage may be therapeutic, focused on locating and releasing tension stored deep within the abdomen, or sensual, focused on helping the receiver to connect with and control his sexual response.

To the uninformed, lingam massage sounds like nothing more than a man paying for a massage with a "happy ending" - a form of sex work. In recent years, however, science has undertaken serious research into the complexities of male sexual response, and the neo-Tantric community has used practices such as lingam massage to teach large numbers of men how to control premature ejaculation.

Lingam massage can be a very different experience in different settings. A therapeutic lingam massage in a clinical setting can be more like a deep tissue massage, or a physiotherapy treatment, while a sensual lingam massage at home with a lover can simply be a fun, playful form of foreplay.

A therapeutic lingam massage is focused on locating and releasing areas of tension and blockage. These may manifest as physical tension or pain, or as areas of numbness or tenderness, or as places which trigger an emotional reaction.

A sensual lingam massage aims to explore a man's sexual pleasure response, and to guide him to orgasm without ejaculation. It may involve full-body massage, to encourage relaxation. It will include extended attention to peripheral erogenous zones, such as the neck, chest, and inner thighs, before any intimate touch. The practitioner will explore the pleasure zones of inner thighs, scrotum, anus, and lingam, and may also introduce a finger into the anus to stimulate the prostate from inside. Ultimately, the aim of a sensual lingam massage is to assist the receiver to access Tantric orgasm, multiple orgasms, and higher states of consciousness.

De-Armoring Massage

A de-armoring massage is a full-body massage, which can include the genital area, and can cover both external and internal massage points. A de-armoring massage is generally therapeutic, rather than sensual. It is focused on locating and releasing tension stored deep within the chest and abdomen.

De-armouring releases long-held tensions from the body. It can also help heal the wounds of physical abuse or rape, heal the wounds of mis-treatment by sexual or life partners, release stress due to over-working and under-playing, or simply help the body remember the feeling of pleasure after years of neglect.

The physical, energetic, and emotional bodies are closely connected. Emotions can be stored as physical tensions or energetic blockages, or both. Working with the physical or energetic blockages can allow the suppressed emotions to release. Emotional, physical, and psychological healing can take place during the de-armoring massage.

Some practitioners refer to yoni massagelingam massageprostate massage, or anal massage as "de-armoring massage"[1]. While these massages can have a de-armoring effect, it is not necessarily the primary intention.

An effective de-armoring massage will focus on all the areas of the body where stress, trauma, and suppressed emotions may be stored as muscular tension. A de-armoring session can be compared to a trigger point massage, where deep pressure is put on various points on the body to release physical, emotional and mental tensions. The points are external as well as internal, but internal work is only done if or when the receiver is comfortable with it.
